Tag blocks are cut at the byte level. Image, video and audio data is copied as-is, never re‑encoded.

The cleaned file is scanned again. If a tag is still there, you get an error instead of a download.
What it does not remove
Google SynthID and other watermarks hidden in the pixels themselves. They are patterns in the picture, not tags in the file, so no file cleaner can strip them — this one included. A platform that checks for them can still detect them after cleaning.
Questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The page makes no network requests while it works. Load it, switch your connection off, and it still cleans files.
Does it remove SynthID?
No. SynthID is a pattern in the pixel values, not a tag in the file. Removing it would mean changing the picture, which this tool never does.
Will the quality change?
No. Only the tag blocks are removed; everything else is copied byte for byte. The test suite checks that JPEG and PNG image data is identical before and after. Video files keep their exact size so they still play.
